How to bid fleet washing jobs using satellite maps

Mark Williams

Fleet washing—specifically washing 18-wheelers, box trucks, and heavy equipment—is the holy grail of recurring revenue in the pressure washing industry. If you secure a weekly contract with a major distribution center, your business is set.

However, quoting these massive logistics hubs is intimidating. Here is how to bid fleet washing jobs using satellite maps to build a rock-solid proposal.

Counting the Fleet

When you are trying to win a fleet washing contract, the fleet manager will often say, "We have about 40 to 50 trailers on the lot at any given time."

You should never base a massive commercial bid on an "about" number. You pull up the distribution center in RemoteQuoter using the high-resolution satellite feed. You zoom in on the loading docks and the staging yards, and you physically count the 53-foot trailers visible on the lot. This gives you a verified baseline of the scale of their operations.

Identifying the Wash Bay

Environmental compliance is the most critical aspect of fleet washing. You cannot simply wash fifty greasy semi-trucks and let the water run into the city storm drain.

Using the satellite tools, you scan the property to identify where you can legally establish your wash area. You look for the massive concrete staging pads or areas where you can set up a water reclamation berm and pump the wastewater into a permitted sanitary sewer cleanout.

By proving to the fleet manager that you have already scouted their lot for environmental compliance, you immediately separate yourself from the amateur washers and secure the commercial contract.
